6th July: The first window is in — just like those in a Vermeer painting. Two windows will have to go back for alterations as each of the has two right sides instead of one right and one left.

12th July: An enormous beam has been fitted between the main house on the right and the lean-to roof on the left. Another small roof will straddle this dead space.

27th July: Cupboard doors match the room doors, with their vertical grooves. This is the same style as upstairs in the main house, where they are stained and polished rather than painted.

27th July: At the southern end of the cottage a similar lean-to roof (on the left) is complemented by a porch roof (on the right). Both roofs are nearing completion. The main one sits above the plant room and downstairs WC, and the porch roof will provide a bit of shelter for the cottage's boiler, will stand beneath it.
